The effectiveness of a common project

Pedalitalia is an idea that originated within the Region of Tuscany administration.
It consulted with and encouraged all other regional administrations to develop and promote cycling tourism in Italy.
The first regions to respond positively to the project were the Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Lombardy, Sardinia, Umbria and Veneto regions and so the project began taking shape.
The name Pedalitalia was chosen for the immediacy and effectiveness of its message – the root “pedal” is shared by most European languages – and its current logo was voted the top choice by participants of the 2007 Sport Tourism Exchange. This encouraging start has led to the organization of trade fairs, research and publications to this day, including the publication of this online library. We can proudly say that the word “synergy”, in its most concrete definition, was the cornerstone of the project.
